Reasons for Female Rabbit Infertility

  1. Poor Nutrition: Improper nutrition management, excessive fatness, and obesity can lead to female rabbit infertility.

  2. Lack of Mating: Prolonged absence from mating can cause temporary loss of reproductive function in female rabbits.

  3. Improper Breeding Techniques: Improper mating methods or misidentification of estrus in female rabbits can result in infertility.

  4. Temperature: High environmental temperatures above 30°C can reduce sperm quality in male rabbits and lead to infertility during mating.

  5. Diseases: Female rabbits may suffer from various reproductive organ diseases such as uterine inflammation, vaginitis, ovarian tumors, etc.

  6. Improper Medication: Improper use of estrus inducers or oxytocin can disrupt the reproductive system of female rabbits and cause irregular estrus, leading to infertility.

Prevention of Female Rabbit Infertility

  1. Enhance Nutrition: Improve management and increase nutrition. Increase protein levels to 16-18% and supplement vitamins and amino acids appropriately.

  2. Artificial Mating: Use a thin rope to tie the tail of the female rabbit during mating to avoid interference. Control the female rabbit's head with the left hand and tilt its hips up with the right hand to facilitate mating.

  3. Promote Estrus: Feed 10% fenugreek in the diet to induce estrus. Alternatively, feed barley malt at 50g per day for 15 days.

  4. Temperature Control: Avoid prolonged exposure to high temperatures, especially for male breeding rabbits. Use methods such as adding insulation to the roof and sprinkling water on the ground to keep the temperature below 30°C.

  5. Treatment of Diseases: Timely treatment of diseases such as vaginitis and uterine inflammation with appropriate medications and procedures.

In conclusion, there are many reasons for female rabbit infertility, and each should be addressed accordingly. If infertility persists after multiple attempts, timely culling may be necessary.
