Fruit Tree Management Methods During Grain Rain

Fruit Tree Management Methods During Grain Rain

1. Apple Trees

After June 10th, summer pruning of apple trees should begin, mainly removing back branches, crowded branches, small and yellow leaves. Additionally, apply compound fertilizer by digging trenches 30 centimeters from the projection of the tree canopy edge towards the inside, then cover with soil and water.

2. Citrus Trees

Continue to manage citrus trees to ensure fruit retention and prevent fruit drop during exceptionally high temperatures. Remove summer shoots and thin out some slender and overcrowded branches. Strengthen pest and disease control against scale insects, aphids, mites, and anthracnose.

3. Waxberry Trees

During Grain Rain, perform summer bud rubbing and topping for young waxberry trees, and prune away dead branches. Additionally, prevent and control diseases such as brown spot, leaf roller, and fruit flies. Use fruit fly traps when the fruit is ripe to prevent fruit infestation.

4. Grapevines

Ensure proper drainage for grapevines to enhance disease resistance. Implement disease control measures for diseases like black rot, anthracnose, powdery mildew, and leafhoppers. Apply fruit-strengthening fertilizers and perform external root fertilization while also managing vine shoots.

5. Loquat Trees

During Grain Rain, clear ditches and improve drainage in loquat orchards. Apply post-harvest fertilization and perform pruning management to prevent and control pests such as looper caterpillars and peach fruit borers.

6. Peach Trees

For peach tree management during Grain Rain, continue bagging fruits for mid-to-late ripening varieties at the beginning of the month. Harvest early ripening varieties and fertilize after harvesting. Summer pruning should focus on thinning out long shoots and should be completed by mid-June. Enhance drainage and disease resistance by digging trenches.

7. Pear Trees

End bagging work for pear trees as soon as possible, ensuring completion before June 10th. Strictly control long shoots, especially for vigorously growing trees. Thinning out densely growing long branches in the upper part of the canopy improves the light conditions for lower branches and leaves. Clear drainage ditches promptly during the rainy season.

Above are the methods for managing fruit trees during Grain Rain. Different fruit trees require different management methods, so everyone can adapt accordingly to manage their fruit trees effectively.
