Usage and Dosage of Gibberellin

Gibberellin, also known as gibberellic acid and commonly referred to as "920," is one of the most widely used plant growth regulators. Gibberellin can stimulate the growth of leaves and buds and increase yields. Below is a detailed guide on how to use gibberellin for various crops. Let's take a look.

Usage and Dosage of Gibberellin

Step 1: Usage for Rice

For rice, use 10-15 grams of gibberellin per acre, sprayed twice:

  1. First Spray: When 10% of the rice panicles have emerged, use 2-3 grams of gibberellin per acre diluted in water.

  2. Second Spray: The day after the first spray, use 4-6 grams of gibberellin per acre diluted in water.

  3. Third Spray: The day after the second spray, use 4-6 grams of gibberellin per acre diluted in water.

Step 2: Usage for Sorghum

Soak sorghum seeds in a 5-10 mg/L gibberellin solution to promote germination, stimulate epicotyl elongation, and increase dry weight, significantly speeding up seedling emergence.

Step 3: Usage for Cotton

Soak cotton seeds in a 20 mg/L gibberellin solution for 6-8 hours to reduce the delay in germination caused by low temperatures or other adverse conditions, and to promote seed germination.

Step 4: Usage for Potatoes

Soak potato cuttings in a 0.5-2 mg/L gibberellin solution for 10-15 minutes, or soak whole potatoes in a 5-15 mg/L gibberellin solution for 30 minutes to break dormancy and promote early sprouting.

Step 5: Usage for Lettuce

Soak lettuce seeds in a 200 mg/L gibberellin solution at a temperature of 30-38°C for 24 hours to break dormancy and promote early germination.

Step 6: Usage for Peppers

Spray pepper flowers once during the flowering period with a 20-40 mg/L gibberellin solution to promote fruit set and increase yield.

Step 7: Usage for Kiwifruit

Apply a 2% gibberellin lanolin paste to the flower stalks to induce seedless fruit formation and reduce fruit drop rates.

Step 8: Usage for Apples

Spray apple trees with a 2000-4000 mg/L gibberellin solution in early spring to break bud dormancy with significant effects.

Step 9: Usage for Strawberries

In strawberry greenhouses, after covering and warming for three days, when more than 30% of the flower buds have appeared, spray each plant with 5 mL of a 5-10 mg/L gibberellin solution.

Step 10: Usage for Citrus

After the flowers have fallen, spray the entire citrus tree with 50 grams of gibberellin diluted in 1000 liters of water. Repeat the spray after 20 days using the same concentration to reduce physiological fruit drop.

Important Considerations

The above guide provides detailed usage and dosage instructions for gibberellin. Gibberellin is widely used in crop management, but it is highly concentrated. Please follow the dosage instructions carefully. Do not arbitrarily increase the concentration or frequency of use. Generally, the number of applications should not exceed two times.
