Methomyl, also known as Methomyl Benzoate, is a rare green pesticide. Methomyl has good control effects on many pests. So, which pests does methomyl control? Let's find out together.
Which Pests Does Methomyl Control?
-
Sugar Beet Armyworm: Methomyl has 13 times the activity against sugar beet armyworm larvae compared to avermectin, 53 times compared to cypermethrin, 57 times compared to flubendamide, and 119 times compared to phoxim. Methomyl's stomach toxicity to sugar beet armyworms is 1500 times higher than avermectin.
-
Cotton Bollworm: Methomyl has very high stomach toxicity to cotton bollworms. A 0.2% methomyl emulsion diluted 4000 times can control 4th instar cotton bollworms with a mortality rate of 98.5%. Using 1% methomyl EC can control cotton bollworms, with a duration of up to 10 days. Under the conditions of 30ml, 60ml, and 90ml of 1% methomyl EC, its control effect is higher than that of cypermethrin, and it has no adverse effects on cotton growth.
-
Small Cabbage Moth: Methomyl has a good control effect on small cabbage moths, which have developed resistance to organophosphates, carbamates, organochlorines, neonicotinoids, and chitin synthesis inhibitors. Using a 0.5% methomyl emulsion diluted 3000 times to control small cabbage moths, the insecticidal effect is 98.4% in 7 days. Using a 1.0% methomyl emulsion diluted 8000 times to control small cabbage moths, the insecticidal effect is 86.51% in 6 days, and diluted 6000 times, the insecticidal effect is 91.45% in 6 days.
-
Vegetable Pests: Using a 1.0% methomyl emulsion diluted 8000 times to control cabbage loopers, the insecticidal effect is 86.03% in 8 days, and diluted 6000 times, the insecticidal effect is 96.85% in 8 days. 1% methomyl can generally be diluted 6000 times for controlling cabbage loopers.
-
Other Pests: Methomyl has high activity against leaf-eating pests and mites but has slightly less effect on aphids.
Above are the pests that methomyl controls. Methomyl should not be used continuously during the crop's growth period. It is best to use it after the first insect infestation period, and use other pesticides during the second infestation period.
